Head of the Mamuju Search and Rescue Office Muhammad Arif Anwar confirmed the occurrence of flooding in Toabo Village, Papalang District, Mamuju Regency, which forced dozens of residents to evacuate.

"There were 50 families who fled independently to nearby family homes that were not affected by the flood. The 50 families consisted of 30 adults, 23 elderly residents, 30 children and 10 toddlers," said Muhammad Arif Anwar, quoted by Antara. , Sunday, December 19 evening.

"We received information related to the flood disaster in Toabo Village, Papalang District on Sunday night at around 20.20 WITA, then we dispatched a Rescue Team to evacuate residents affected by the flood," he explained.

"From a report received by the standby officer of the Mamuju Search and Rescue Office, the water discharge began to increase at 17.00 WITA," said Muhammad Arif Anwar.

The rescue team from the Mamuju Search and Rescue Office, who arrived at the flood location at around 21.15 WITA, he continued, immediately coordinated with the team from the Mamuju BPBD, Mamuju Social Service, Mamuju Police, Pangale Koramil, sub-district and village governments, to take care of residents affected by the flood. in Toabo Village.

"From the results of the SAR operations in the field with related elements, we will continue to monitor and anticipate the condition of the water discharge which is feared to increase due to high rainfall," said Muhammad Arif Anwar.

Heavy rains that flushed the Mamuju Regency area from Sunday afternoon until evening caused a number of areas in the area to be inundated.

One of the residents of Toabo Village Alimuddin contacted on Sunday night said the worst puddle occurred in Lorong 18, Sukamaju Hamlet, Toabo Village.

In fact, the water level on Sunday night at around 19.45 WITA had reached the chest of an adult.

"Currently, the water has begun to recede, but we are still worried about the possibility of flooding again because the rain is still going on, although it is not too heavy," said Alimuddin.
