North Sumatra Police Unravel Fraud Mode To Enter Police Academy, Victim Deposits IDR 600 Million

MEDAN - The team from the General Crime Directorate of the North Sumatra Police uncovered cases of fraud and embezzlement with the mode of being able to apply for admission to the Police Academy (Akpol). The police arrested the perpetrator named Imam Wahyudi.

The Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, said that the case began when Efendi Setiawan brought together Imam Wahyudi and victim Syaiful Bahri in a cafe to take care of his son, Syaiful Bahri, Abdul Mutholib, who was able to enter the Police Academy.

"During the meeting, Imam Wahyudi agreed and asked Syaiful Bahri for Rp600 million so that his son could enter the Police Academy," said Kombes Hadi, Sunday, December 19.

After that, the victim, Syaiful Bahri, sent Rp600 million to Imam Wahyudi by means of Rp400 million to his Mandiri Bank account and Rp200 million to Sukardi's BRI Bank account.

"After the Rp600 million was given, it turned out that Abdul Mutholib could not enter the Police Academy, while Imam Wahyudi had fled," he said.

Knowing this, the victim Syaiful Bahri also reported cases of fraud and embezzlement to the North Sumatra Police Criminal Investigation Directorate.

Kombes Hadi said that the personnel of the Sub-Directorate of Renakta Dit Reskrimum of the North Sumatra Police who received the victim's report carried out an investigation by examining a number of witnesses.

"For his actions, the suspect Imam Wahyudi was detained and threatened with a sentence of up to 5 years in prison. However, investigators are still continuing to investigate several people regarding their respective roles," he said.

In addition, when questioned, Mam Wahyudi admitted that the Rp600 million money given by the victim had been distributed, with details of the perpetrator getting a share of Rp400 million, Efendi Setiawan Rp139 million, Nasrul Rp40 million, Deny Reza Rp20 million and Sukardi Rp1 million.
