Madiun City Government Speeds Up Vaccination Of Children Aged 6-11 Years

MADIUN - The City Government of Madiun, East Java, is speeding up the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years so that it can be completed immediately and provide protection to the target.

Head of the Section for Management of Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases Services at the Madiun City Health, Population Control and Family Planning Service, Tri Wahyuning Novitasari, said the target for COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years in the city was 15,657 people. Therefore, vaccination was again encouraged in Madiun City.

"Starting last December 14, we have been allowed to vaccinate ages 6 and over. We have received an additional 15 thousand more targets", Novitasari said in Madiun, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 16.

According to her, to pursue this achievement, her party will hold mass vaccinations in schools. Meanwhile, mass vaccinations for ages 6-11 are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week.

For the first stage, there will be 2,753 targets spread across 15 schools. The implementation is centered in four schools, namely SDN Banjarejo, SDN 02 Mojorejo, SDN 02 Nambangan Lor and SDN 01 Nambangan Kidul.

"We also opened a vaccination center service in Taman Sumber Umis. In addition, health centers and hospitals also continue to provide vaccinations. So you don't have to wait for a schedule at school. Those who want vaccines can now go to the center, health center, or hospital", she said.

Vita, as she is familiarly called, said that only 700 children had been injected with the vaccine. This is because the vaccination for children aged over 6 years was only opened two days ago. Meanwhile, there is also a School Student Immunization Month (BIAS) activity at this time in schools. According to the rules, new vaccinations can be given at least one month after getting the immunization.

Her party will reschedule for students who are ready to be vaccinated. In addition, her party is also collaborating with the Ministry of Religion of the City of Madiun to vaccinate students in schools under the auspices of the Ministry of Religion.

"In principle, we will give immediate vaccinations. The rest will be scheduled later", said Vita.

She added, for the general target of COVID-19 vaccination, the first dose had exceeded the target in Madiun City. Vaccination has reached 158,336 people or 102.17 percent as of Thursday, December 16, while the target in the city is 154,972 people.

Even so, she said, vaccinations continued to roll out, namely to complete the second dose and for children aged 6-11 years.

It was recorded, overall in Madiun City, confirmed cases of COVID-19 until Thursday, December 16 reached 7,269 people. Of that number, 6,758 people have recovered, zero people are in treatment, and 511 people have died.
