Kemayoran To Ancol May Be The Location Of The Circuit To Prevent Illegal Racing

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the Polda Metro Jaya has pocketed several locations that may be used as venues for the race circuit. The locations range from Jakarta to Tangerang.

"One of them is Kemayoran, Ancol, in BSD and then PIK 2, there are several locations," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Friday, December 17.

But to determine the location that will be chosen to become a circuit to facilitate motorcyclists who previously had illegal racing, it will be discussed with related parties through Focus Group Discussions (FGD).

"For example, a drag race means we have to find a track that is at least 600 meters straight. 400 meters for racing, 200 meters for braking distance maybe 50 meters for race preparation and so on, we are looking for that," said Sambodo.

"If it turns out that there is a road race, it means that we have to look for the one that has had a road race so far. So we will decide at the time of the FGD what race we want to do," he continued.

In addition, the FGD will discuss the terms of the race. That way, everything will be facilitated properly.

"For example, what classes are there, what do you need to do with selection, what will the system be, we'll talk about it later by inviting friends who have been involved in the world of racing," said Sambodo.

Previously, the Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Fadil Imran would facilitate the illegal racers. The trick, by opening a special location for racing at night.

"That's why I want to build a (race venue). My plan, pray for me, hopefully (it will be realized). I will make a race for illegal racers," said Fadil to reporters, Tuesday, November 30.

One of the reasons behind the discourse of creating locations for illegal racers is coaching. So, they don't take to the streets and carry out illegal racing actions that endanger lives.

"So I will facilitate the illegal racing, not be hostile. Instead of being arrested, I will facilitate him," said Inspector General Fadil.

"I've gotten a lot of input from the community so that the Kapolda can help this night wild racing be fostered, not arrested but fostered," he continued.
