Din Syamsuddin Declared KAMI, PKB: A Group of People Who Are Disappointed in the Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Din Syamsuddin and several figures declared the Action Coalition to Save Indonesia (KAMI). Politician of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdul Kadir Karding believes that KAMI is based on disappointment in the results of the Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"If you look at the list of names, most of the people were disappointed during the previous presidential election," Karding told reporters, Tuesday, August 18.

Karding said the KAMI coalition might have a goal of forming the opposition to the Jokowi government. KAMI is also predicted to be competing in the 2024 political contestation.

For Karding, forming a coalition in Indonesia, which is a democratic country, should not be prohibited. However, according to him, the criticism must be accompanied by concrete solutions.

"If there are those who criticize and so on, it should be built with concrete solutions. So, it will make our country healthy, our democracy healthy," he said.

Moreover, currently, Indonesia is entering a pandemic era of COVID-19. According to Karding, the most important thing is to help minimize the spread of the coronavirus. As well as bring solutions to the economic impact of the outbreak.

"Most importantly, how to work together in this pandemic era. We should participate in solving the existing problems, including the suffering of the people that have occurred. Because this pandemic is not an easy thing, we need togetherness," he said.

One of our declarators, Din Syamsuddin, said that this association consists of various elements of society. Such as interfaith leaders, academics, activists, workers, and the other figures from across generations.

KAMI was formed because of the same thoughts and views of Indonesian life and statehood, which KAMI considered deviating from national ideals.

Another KAMI declarator, Refly Harun, said through his YouTube account that this movement has an identity that consists of 10 points. It describes the background, goals, and organizational structure.
