Yogyakarta City Government Closes Alcohol Shop In Kusumanegara

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government has closed shops selling various types of liquor on Jalan Kusumanegara because the licenses they hold violate the provisions.

"The closure was also carried out to protect the city of Yogyakarta because there are regulations regarding restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages," said Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 15.

Heroe said that the sale of liquor or alcoholic beverages can only be carried out by four and five-star hotels and restaurants that have pocketed the certificates of talam selaka and talam golden.

"After a study was conducted, the shop was closed because it did not meet the requirements to sell alcoholic beverages. Again, the closure was to protect the city of Yogyakarta," he said.

According to Heroe, business actors who want to sell alcoholic beverages must comply with all regulations and apply for permits according to the correct terms and processes.

"It doesn't mean that we prohibit people from consuming alcoholic beverages, but that their sales are limited. Only in certain places according to the rules," he said.

Apart from the one store that has been closed, Heroe said he has not found another similar shop. "Therefore, we will increase patrols in the area to ensure that," he said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the PKS faction of the Yogyakarta City DPRD, Bambang Anjar Jalumurti, said that businesses that do not yet have a valid business license but are already operating are threatened with closure until a valid business permit is issued, according to PP No. 5 of 2021.

"The license they have is an old version, it hasn't been updated with the risk-based OSS permission version," he said.

He said that although business actors already have a NIB from OSS, it cannot be said to be complete to run a business because it must be validated first for operations.

"We hope that there will be no business activities that damage the dignity of Yogyakarta as a student city," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Yogyakarta City Satpol PP Agus Winarto said, from the results of field monitoring, it was known that the business did not have complete permits.

"Yesterday there was also a letter from the Investment Agency and One Stop Integrated Services to the owner to close and migrate to risk-based licensing," he said.
