Labuan Bajo-Ruteng NTT Road Section Covered By Landslide

KUPANG - The Labuan Bajo state road, West Manggarai Regency to Ruteng, Manggarai Regency, NTT was covered by landslides due to heavy rains. As a result, the flow of land transportation connecting the two areas was completely cut off.

"Vehicles cannot pass yet because the road section at the location of the incident is still covered with landslide material," said Risal, a resident of Labuan Bajo who was still at the landslide site, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 13.

The landslide disaster not far from the Ro'e bridge, West Manggarai Regency, occurred at around 14.00 WITA.

Risal said that due to the large number of landslide materials that closed the Labuan Bajo-Ruteng state road, vehicles going to Labuan Bajo and to Ruteng could not pass.

He said the landslide caused the queue of vehicles to reach more than two kilometers, both vehicles from the direction of Labuan Bajo and from Ruteng to Labuan Bajo.

"We have been at the landslide location for two hours because we are still waiting for heavy equipment to clean the landslide material. If it has been cleaned, the vehicle can pass," said Risal.

Heavy rains continue to occur in the Ro'e area, which is prone to landslides during the rainy season in West Manggarai Regency.
