At What Level of PPKM Is Jakarta During Christmas And New Year Holidays? This Is Deputy Governor Riza's Answer

JAKARTA - The central government canceled the plan to implement Level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) simultaneously throughout Indonesia. Then, what level of PPKM will the DKI Jakarta Province apply during the Christmas and New Year holidays?

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that his party had not been able to confirm this. Currently, the DKI Provincial Government is still waiting for further policies from the central government.

"Regarding Christmas and New Year, we are still waiting for a policy from the central government. We will wait until later. Be patient. It's still from December 24 to January 2 next year," said Riza at City Hall, Friday, December 10.

Riza revealed that the DKI Provincial Government will implement PPKM sustainability at the end of the year after the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian issues the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs.

Currently, Anies has issued a Jakarta regulation to enforce Level 3 PPKM from December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022.

The regulation was signed by Anies through the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 1430 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Level 3 COVID-19 Community Activity Restrictions, which followed up on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 62 of 2021 regarding the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 at Christmas and the New Year of 2022.

Responding to this, Riza said that the PPKM Gubernatorial Decree Level 3 could still be revised in line with the central government's decision.

"We will adjust it later. Pak Anies will issue a policy in accordance with the policy presented. Later if there is a change, we will readjust it," he said.

In principle, Riza continued, the public should not be carried away by the euphoria of celebrating the Christmas and New Year holidays by relaxing the application of health protocols in order to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

"We ask all Jakartans to be more disciplined. In fact, the discipline must be improved again. There is the potential for people to leave the house, take long holidays, increase interaction, the potential for crowds to increase, in the end, the transmission can increase," he added.
