The head of the NTB PUPR Service, Ridwan Syah, said that the flash floods that hit several areas in Bima City caused some public facilities to be damaged, one of which was the main bridge connecting Bima City with Ambalawi/Wera in Bima Regency, which is a road for NTB Province in West Jatibaru, to collapse.
"We have coordinated with the PUPR Office of Bima City and the contractors who are working on the road section. I guarantee that all heavy equipment is in the field to immediately carry out repairs," he said in Mataram, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 7.
He said the use of this heavy equipment was carried out to clean asphalt and garbage or twigs that clog the bridge. Meanwhile, to clean the bridge floor plate which is too big, it will be broken down first and transported by truck.
"Today, we focus on overcoming the blockage caused by the collapse of the bridge. God willing, we will carry out the cleaning of the former bridge plates to completion," he said.
Meanwhile, to ensure the smooth transportation of Bima-Ambalawi/Wera City, there are two alternatives, namely building a temporary bridge which takes time and money, or increasing alternative road access.
The alternative road in question is the highway from Lela-Jatibaru Barat between the Office of the West Jatibaru Village Head and the Puskesmas to the Sepaga II Jatibaru Timur neighborhood (In the 2016 flood relocation complex area).
The distance of this alternative road is 2.4 km long with an average shoulder width of 4-7 meters, has been hotmixed by the Bima City Government and which is still in good condition along 1.6 km.
"After we surveyed, there are still around 800 meters that have just been hardened. This requires cleaning of mud. Then hardening and digging drainage on the slopes of the mountain. And hardening using a Class C LPA. We will report the results of the survey," he said.
