For The Sake Of Medan Being Free From Chronic Flooding, Bobby Nasution Will Do This In 2022

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution said the revitalization of Lake Siombak covering an area of 40 hectares in North Medan by cooperating with the Sumatra II River Basin Center (BWS) will be carried out in 2022.

"We want Lake Siombak to be revitalized next year, and the Medan City Government is ready to support the work carried out by BWS to help the people of North Medan escape from flooding," said Bobby Nasution in Medan, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 6.

This is done, continued Bobby Nasution, because so far the problem of flooding has often hit the North Medan area, and Lake Siombak will be used as a water reservoir.

The mayor of Medan confirmed that he had agreed on several important points so that the revitalization of Lake Siombak located in Paya Pasir Village, Medan Marelan was immediately realized.

"We hope that BWS will include the revitalization of Lake Siombak as a work program next year," said Bobby Nasution.

Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Medan City Public Works Agency, Ferri Ichsan, admitted that the Medan City Government would carry out land acquisition needed for the smooth revitalization of the lake.

Furthermore, he said, later embankments and better road access will be built, so that this lake is not only a water reservoir, but also recreation in the city of Medan.

"Later, land acquisition, embankment construction and we will also prepare road access. Because we want Lake Siombak to be made as a tourist spot," said Ferri.
