MATARAM - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Nusa Tenggara said that four bridges had been broken and 3,213 families were affected by floods that occurred in several districts/cities.

"That's a temporary report that we received from three regencies/cities that were severely affected by the floods," said Head of BPBD NTB H Sahdan as quoted by Antara, Monday, December 6.

Four bridges were broken due to flooding, namely the bridge in Lembah Sari Village and the bridge in Meninting Village, West Lombok Regency. In addition, there is a bridge connecting Bentek Induk Hamlet with Lebah Sari Hamlet, North Lombok Regency, as well as a bridge in front of the new Bima City terminal.

Meanwhile, thousands of families affected by the flood were spread across West Lombok Regency as many as 923 families, North Lombok Regency as many as 115 families, and Bima City as many as 2,175 families.

Specifically in West Lombok Regency, said Sahdan, there were four fatalities, and one victim has yet to be found, and seven residents were injured due to flash floods accompanied by landslides in North Batulayar Hamlet, West Batulayar Village.

"Data on the number of houses damaged by floods and landslides is still in the data collection process," he said.

Sahdan said his party together with district/city BPBDs were still carrying out the process of evacuating residents to safer places.

The NTB BPBD, together with the NTB Social Service and the district/city government have also distributed ready-to-eat food assistance, as well as other logistical needs needed by flood victims.

"We also urge the public to remain alert to extreme weather in the form of strong winds and heavy rains that have the potential to cause floods, landslides, and tornadoes," said Sahdan.

Other areas affected by the floods are Mataram City, Central Lombok Regency, and East Lombok, but the NTB BPBD has not yet obtained data from each district/city government regarding the impacts caused by the natural disaster.
