Officials Asked To Report Wealth, Deputy Chairman Of KPK: If You Don't Want To, It's Better To Stop!

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata said state officials must report their assets. This reporting is a form of transparency and those who do not want to report should resign from their positions.

This was conveyed by Alexander when he expressed his appreciation to the winner of the Inspirational 2021 State Organizer Wealth Report (LHKPN) award. This activity was carried out as one of a series of commemorations of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) this year.

"Transparency as a public official must be maintained. If you don't want to report assets as mandated by law, it's better to stop being a state administrator," Alexander said in an activity broadcast on the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Monday, December 6.

Alexander appreciated state officials who had reported their assets to the KPK. "On behalf of the KPK leadership, I would like to express my gratitude and highest appreciation to the recipients of the mandatory reporting award and the LHKPN Management Unit," he said.

He said the existence of this report is expected to make officials think twice before committing corruption. Moreover, their assets are now monitored and can be accessed openly by the public.

Not only that, Alexander also asked agency leaders to give strict sanctions to their subordinates who have not reported their assets.

Regarding the awarding of this award, the organizers chosen are not only those who have carried out their obligations to report their assets. Alexander said these awards are those who have demonstrated their commitment and moral responsibility in preventing corrupt behavior.

The winners of the award were chosen from 370 thousand registered mandatory reports. They are Canna Divertana Hernama, Project Director 8 Operation Area 8 Surabaya PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). He is noted to have reported LHKPN 14 times since 2010.

Robert Leonard Marbun, Expert Staff for Institutional Relations at the Investment Coordinating Board, reported LHKPN 13 times since 2007. Third, Syamsuar, Governor of Riau for the 2019-2024 period, reported LHKPN 13 times since 2003.

Fourth, Musthofa, Member of the House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period, reported LHKPN 13 times since 2003. Fifth, M. Rizal Effendi, Mayor of Balikpapan for the 2011-2016 and 2016-2021 periods, who has reported LHKPN 13 times since 2002.

Lastly, Ahmad Salihin, Deputy Chairperson of the Banda Aceh High Court, has reported the LHKPN 12 times since 2002.

In addition, the KPK also appreciates several agencies for their commitment to encouraging reporting compliance. First, to the General Elections Commission (KPU) for the issuance of KPU Regulation Number 20 of 2018 concerning the Nomination of Members of the DPR and Provincial/Regency/City DPRD, so that the 2019 DPR and DPRD LHKPN reporting reaches 100 percent.

The second appreciation was given to the Boyolali Regency Government and the Boyolali Regency DPRD who together became the fastest agencies in achieving complete 100 percent LHKPN compliance on January 1, 2021, even though the deadline for periodic reporting falls on March 31, 2021.

Finally, appreciation is given to KPK partners for their support and contribution in verifying and examining LHKPN, namely OJK, Ministry of ATR/BPN, PPATK, Dukcapil, Ministry of Home Affairs, Director General of AHU, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Perbanas, Asbanda, Perbina, KSEI, AAJI, as well as OPD in the Regional Government that manages Revenue.

Before closing his statement, Alex reminded that starting January 1, 2021 LHKPN reporting will be opened. He hopes that there will be no more officials who do not report their wealth.

"We appeal to LHKPN obligatory throughout Indonesia to remain obedient in reporting their assets to the KPK through the e-LHKPN application," he concluded.
