Jokowi Has Given Instructions For Christmas And New Year Activities To Be Limited To A Maximum Of 50 People

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has instructed to limit the number of people who gather during the Christmas and New Year periods to a maximum of 50 people.

This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartato at the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) press conference.

"Regarding Christmas and New Year's activities, the President gave directions that the gathering activities are for various activities, a maximum of 50 people," said Airlangga in a Youtube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday, December 6.

Therefore, the rules for limiting this activity will be set forth in the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, through the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs.

Airlangga continued, the government will also limit activities such as in shopping centers. For example, the capacity of malls and restaurants is limited to a maximum of 75 percent.

"However, there is a limit on the number which is maximized to 50 people and those who are traveling are those who have been vaccinated, meaning that they are not vaccinated or have not been vaccinated and do not travel," he continued.

For information, the government will implement Level 3 PPKM during the Christmas and New Year holidays, from December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022. Later, all regions in Indonesia that are in Level 1 and 2 PPKM must comply with Level 3 rules.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said the policy was carried out to tighten the movement of people and prevent a spike in COVID-19 cases.

This policy is effective from December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022. "So there is national uniformity. There has been an agreement, the rules that apply in Java-Bali and outside Java-Bali will later be uniformed," said Muhadjir.

Muhadjir added, in the year-end holiday policy, celebrations of fireworks, parades, processions that gather large crowds will be completely prohibited. Meanwhile, for Christmas Worship, tourist visits, shopping centers adjust the Level 3 PPKM policy.
