Protest Paying IDR 300 Thousand For 3 Liters Of Pertalite In Jayawijaya, Papuan DPR Members Ask Regency Government To Pay Attention To Fuel Stock

PAPUA - A member of the Papua Province House of Representatives, Yakoba Lokbere highlighted the price of pertalite type fuel oil (BBM) which is sold for IDR 100,000 per liter in Jayawijaya Regency.

"I urge and hope that the Jayawijaya Government and the government in the central mountains please take seriously the fuel shortage that is happening. We also received a report on one liter pertalite in Wamena for Rp. 100,000," he said in Wamena, as reported by Antara, Monday, December 6.

Yakoba admitted that he found the price of pertalite in Wamena for Rp. 100,000 per liter. This situation will be very difficult for the people of Jayawijaya, the majority of whom do not have a fixed income.

"Two days ago I myself became a victim. I filled three liters so I paid Rp. 300,000 and here is a witness. In these mountains we must consider taking steps as soon as possible because our people here are economically weak and they do not have a steady income," he said. .

He said the scarcity was not caused by delays in the distribution of aviation, because the Jayapura-Jayawijaya flight was normal and had no problems.

"To save this unrest, real action must be taken. Don't be impressed that there are problems in the community and the government sees it but it seems as if they haven't taken one decision and one decisive step. It's as if they are asleep, unable to help the community by December 25, " he said.

He hopes that the Jayawijaya Regency DPRD will also take part in observing the situation that has been going on for more than a week.

"Even if there are illegal retailers or people who take advantage of this situation by targeting prices outside the normal price, it is the duty of the regional DPRD and the government to monitor and anticipate problems that we do not expect to occur. Strict action must be taken," he said.

He said that previously things like this had never happened for days like what is now happening, so it needs to be taken seriously so that this situation does not hinder people who want to welcome the holiday.

Yakoba Lokbere is optimistic that the situation in Jayawijaya will have an impact on a number of new districts in the mountains because the supply of fuel to the new expansion areas comes from Jayawijaya.

"Jayawijaya, which is considered the capital (of the eight new regencies) is like that, let alone other regencies. I can't imagine it would be even more difficult for them," he said.
