Student Victims Of Sexual Harassment Of Unsri Lecturers Increase

PALEMBANG - Sriwijaya University (Unsri) students who became victims of cases of alleged sexual harassment by lecturers increased, a total of four people.

One victim was recorded as a student of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Science (FKIP) with an individual lecturer with the initials A and three from the Faculty of Economics (FE) with an individual lecturer with the initials R.

Head of Sub-Directorate 4 for Teenagers, Children and Women (Renakta) of the South Sumatra Police Directorate General of Criminal Investigation, Commissioner of Police Masnoni, said that his party received a complaint from one victim again with the initials D who claimed to have been harassed by an unscrupulous lecturer R at Faculty of Economics.

D is the junior of two female students at FE Unsri, Indralaya campus, Ogan Ilir, who first reported being a victim of harassment under the name of the alleged perpetrator, namely lecturer R. In this report, D's capacity was a ballast witness.

"That way, there are three victims who claim to be victims of harassment from an unscrupulous lecturer with the initials R who joined the report. D is a witness against him, because her reporting was the same as her two seniors who first reported," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 4.

Commissioner of Police Masnoni explained that victim D was sexually harassed not physically, but through messages with obscene words via Whatsapp from unscrupulous lecturers.

Meanwhile, the Head of UNSRI BEM, Faculty of Economics, Farrell Farhan, said that when D reported to the South Sumatra Police Headquarters, he and other colleagues accompanied her. At that time, victim D came with her parents.

Before reporting to the Police Headquarters, victim D first complained about her condition, which had been a victim of harassment by her lecturer, R to the post they had established.

"After two cases were revealed. We opened a complaint post. From there we received complaints from our colleague D. Then we accompanied D to the South Sumatra Police Headquarters following the report that was made earlier," he said.

They hope that the police will solve the harassment case from this unscrupulous lecturer completely.

"From the start, we immediately reported to the Police Headquarters accompanying our colleagues. Because we believe they can resolve this case fairly. On campus (the process) is too tough and uncertain," he said.

Unsri Student President Dwiki Sandy added, in the future, the victim will appoint legal counsel to assist them in the alleged sexual harassment case. "The victim will have legal counsel later to assist them in this case," he concluded.
