Vaccination Reaches 80 Percent, NTT Governor Optimistic Kupang-West Manggarai Achieve Herd Immunity

JAKARTA - The Governor of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat expressed his optimism that Kupang City and West Manggarai Regency were able to achieve herd immunity because the COVID-19 vaccination achievement was above 80 percent for the first dose.

"Vaccination achievements for the two regions in NTT are so high that the two regions can achieve herd immunity," said Governor Viktor Bungtilus Laiskodat in Kupang, Friday, December 3.

He hopes that the two regions will continue to improve their vaccination achievements so that cases of the spread of COVID-19 can continue to be suppressed.

The Kupang City COVID-19 Handling Acceleration Task Force stated that the achievement of vaccination for the first dose had been carried out on 284,907 targets or 85.45 percent of the 333,628 vaccination targets.

Meanwhile, in West Manggarai Regency, the vaccination coverage for the first dose reached 76.5 percent of the 202,827 COVID-19 vaccination recipients in the area. Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat encouraged all regencies with low vaccination achievement to accelerate the provision of vaccinations for residents to prevent transmission of COVID cases. -19 especially against the threat of wave III COVID-1 with the Omicron virus from Africa which spreads faster.

"Sooner or later this virus can also reach NTT with the high mobility of citizens," said Viktor.
