Frequent Accidents, DKI Provincial Government: There Are Indications That Transjakarta's Performance Is Not Optimal

JAKARTA - Head of the Regional Owned Enterprises Development Agency (BP BUMD) DKI Jakarta Province, Riyadi, revealed that there are indications that the performance of PT Transjakarta's BUMD is not running optimally. Considering that Transjakarta buses have been involved in accidents many times.

"There are indications that there are performances (of the Transjakarta ranks) that are not implemented optimally, that is," Riyadi said when contacted, Friday, December 3.

However, Riyadi said the DKI Provincial Government would not evaluate Transjakarta's board of directors regarding the accidents that have often occurred recently.

Therefore, Riyadi said that his party would first conduct a thorough audit of the operational safety of Transjakarta buses by involving the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT). After that, there will be a decision regarding the evaluation of Transjakarta's performance.

"This is because there are frequent accidents, we will do a thorough audit. I think the KNKT has the competence. Therefore, Transjakarta will cooperate with the KNKT because that is where the competence is," he said.

For information, a Transjakarta bus crashed into the PGC Cililitan Polantas Post which is located at the intersection in front of the Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC), Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta on Thursday, December 2.

As a result of the collision, the Polantas Post was badly damaged after being hit by a Transjakarta bus from the direction of Jatinegara. According to information, a Transjakarta officer was injured in the accident.

The Transjakarta accident was caused by the fall of a jack from under the driver's seat. Then, the jack hit the gas pedal, causing the bus to speed up and hit the traffic police post (Post Polantas).

The next day, namely today, there was a traffic accident for the Transjakarta Bus NRKB B 7277 TGC driven by DS which was traveling from the south to the north on Jalan Jendral Sudirman, Central Jakarta.

Allegedly, the driver was not careful and concentrated so he swerved to the left. Then the Transjakarta Bus NRKB B 7277 TGC crashed into the busway lane barrier.

Previously, the Transjakarta accident had also occurred on Monday, October 25, early in the morning. As a result of the accident 33 people became victims. In which, two of them died and 31 people suffered minor and serious injuries.

The next accident occurred on Jalan Iskandar Muda, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Friday, October 29. There were no fatalities as a result of the incident resulting from the sleepy driver's condition.
