Although Detained For Legal Cases, Jerinx SID Still Becomes Bali BNN Anti-Drug Ambassador

DENPASAR - Head of the Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) Brigadier General Gde Sugianyar Dwi Putra said I Gede AryAstina alias Jerinx SID remained an anti-drug ambassador even though he was being detained due to a legal case.

"Until now, Jerinx and Nora (Jerinx's wife, ed.) are still volunteers for the anti-drug BNNP Bali. The legal case involving Jerinx has nothing to do with handling or dealing with drugs," he said in a written statement, Thursday, December 2.

Sugianyar said that so far Jerinx has been active in helping BNNP Bali campaign for the dangers of drugs and rehabilitation programs according to the BNN program in educating the public with a "soft power" approach.

In addition, he said, BNNP Bali cooperates with all levels of society who have an anti-drug agenda regardless of status to jointly play an active role in overcoming narcotics problems, including this Jerinx figure.

"We invite all parties to campaign for anti-drugs, including Jerinx, which is known to have high popularity, especially among the younger generation," continued Sugianyar.

He said the move was in accordance with Article 104 of Law No. 35 of 2009 which stipulates that the public has the widest opportunity to participate in helping prevent, eradicate, abuse and illicit narcotics trafficking (P4GN).

Including, Article 105 of Law no. 35 of 2009 which states that the community has rights and responsibilities in efforts to prevent, eradicate, abuse, illicit narcotics and narcotics precursors.

Apart from Jerinx, continued Sugianyar, BNNP Bali is collaborating with other community leaders in the hope that they can touch all levels of society such as Jro Dalang Cenk Blonk, Ajik Krisna, Jun Bintang, Puja Astawa, Erick est, and others so that the BNN program related to handling drug problems runs smoothly.

"Let's respect Jerinx's current legal process. Hopefully, the Jerinx case can be completed as soon as possible and get the best decision," he said.

Previously, BNNP Bali appointed Jerinx and his wife Nora as anti-drug ambassadors who were mandated to provide education about the dangers of narcotics, the rehabilitation process for users, and the current condition of drug cases in Bali.

"For addicts, they must be rehabilitated, so they are not imprisoned, because the prisons here (in the Bali area) have exceeded their capacity, such as in Kerobokan Prison which is 500 percent over," he said.
