MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution targets the realization of the budget for the infrastructure development sector to be above 90 percent by 2022. The Medan City Government has budgeted more than IDR 1 trillion for the infrastructure development sector.

Bobby Nasution has emphasized to his staff that the budget for infrastructure can be realized above 90 percent. This is because the budget is projected for the problem of handling floods and damaged roads.

"For infrastructure, more than IDR 1 trillion has been tapped. I want this to be realized, I don't want it to be below 90 percent for infrastructure," said Bobby Nasution, Thursday, December 2.

For flood management, Bobby Nasution explained that currently the Medan City Government is focusing on reducing the number of inundation points.

"We want to try to reduce the number of inundation points. Yesterday I said there were more than 1.000 (dots), 1.300 we recorded yesterday when the rain flow was very high there were 1.500 inundations. We are trying to continue to reduce the number of points," he continued.

According to him, the Medan City Government has mapped out which points have the intensity of inundation for more than 5 hours to recede.

"I see that there are still more than 8 hours, at least more than 8 hours are lost. That's what I said. Our target is, although we haven't finished all the points yet," said Bobby Nasution.

In addition, Bobby Nasution emphasized that his party will always coordinate with stakeholders. Because, the flow of puddles will be divided between the river or underground.

"The percentage of distribution that goes into the ground and is thrown into the river must be clear. It must be coordinated with the province of North Sumatra, the Ministry of Public Works which oversees the river," he said.

One of the factors that causes puddles is due to a poor drainage system. He said, apart from sedimentation, many drainages were also covered by community-owned buildings.

"That's why I asked the regional Technical implementation Unit (UPT) together with the sub-district head to understand properly. Which one is disturbing our drainage, whether it is sedimentation in the drainage or the community building wrongly. Like making fences or garages that cover drainage, it is necessary to map out how many areas of the community are doing this," said Bobby Nasution.
