DPR Reminds Government To Tighten International Entrance Doors To Prevent The Omicron Variant Emerging

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR), Nurhadi, reminded the government to tighten the rules for guarding international entrances so that the Omicron variant of COVID-19 does not enter Indonesia. He emphasized that the government should not concede as the Delta variant caused Indonesia to stumble.

"Security at the entrances to our country must be strengthened again. We must not be fooled by the Omicron variant of COVID-19," said Nurhadi, Thursday, December 2.

It is known that the Omicron variant has spread to various countries in Africa such as Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, South Africa, Botswana and Nigeria. Even that variant has appeared in Asia, Europe, and even to Brazil. Most recently, Omicron has been detected in the UK, Switzerland, Brazil, Australia and Japan to South Korea.

The NasDem Party politician admitted to supporting the government's efforts to limit people's activities during the Christmas and New Year holidays to anticipate the spread of the virus.

He appealed to all parties to enforce the rules set by the government, such as wearing masks, washing hands and staying away from crowds.

"The threat of COVID-19 is not over, we must maintain health protocols. Do not let a new wave appear in Indonesia," said Nurhadi.

Along with this, the legislator for the East Java electoral district hopes that the government will also increase the distribution of health facilities in the regions.

"Don't let any area be left behind in terms of health facilities, because in the future we will never know what health threats will arise," said Nurhadi.
