The Time For The PBNU Conference Has Not Been Decided, Here's The Reason

JAKARTA - Chairman of PBNU Said Aqil Sirodj said that there was no definitive decision regarding the implementation of the 34th NU congress, in line with the policy for the implementation of Level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in all parts of Indonesia at the end of the year.

"Essentially, we are ready to hold a congress. As for the date and day, we cannot determine," said Saiq Aqil in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 30.

Currently, there are a number of proposals regarding the timing of the congress, namely advancing the implementation on December 17 or moving back to early January 2022. The congress itself will initially be held on December 23-25, 2021.

However, the certainty of when the congress will be held will be determined by the PBNU Limited Deliberation between Rais 'Aam, Katib 'Aam, the Chairman of PBNU, and the Secretary General of PBNU.

Responding to the two proposals, Said Aqil said that all parties in NU have the right to propose if it is for the benefit of the organization, but the issue of certainty must be decided together. It is planned that this week the PBNU management will hold a meeting to decide on the best.

"This week we will hold a meeting first with the PBNU management," he said. Saiq Aqil stated that PBNU was ready to hold a congress. Even on Monday, he directly checked the readiness of this grand deliberation at the Darussa'adah Islamic Boarding School Complex, Gunung Sugih, Central Lampung.

"That's why we first check its readiness, what is clear is that we are ready to hold NU's celebration," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the 34th NU Congress Committee Ahmad Ishomuddin said his party was waiting for official instructions from PBNU. The committee also continues to accelerate the construction of the main hall for the opening of the congress.

"If our preparation progress continues according to the agenda," he said.
