SAR Pangkalpinang Helps Find KM Samudra Wani II In The Java Sea

BANGKA - The Pangkalpinang SAR team, Bangka Belitung assisted in the search for KM Samudra Wani II, which had an engine failure in the waters of the Java Sea at coordinates 4°42.227'S 107°31.669' T.

"We are looking for KM Samudra Wani II after we previously received a report from PT Pana Sakti as the agent for the motor boat", said Head of the Pangkalpinang SAR Office, Fazzli, in a written statement quoted by Antara, Monday, November 29.

He said, from the report, KM Samudra Wani II suffered engine failure in the Java Sea from Midai Island, Natuna Regency to Sunda Kelapa Harbor.

Based on report data, KM Samudra Wani II is a cargo ship type Call Sign YB 4689 Tonnage 478 Person on Board (POB) 14 people.

To facilitate and speed up assistance, he said, his party coordinated again with the ship's agent who was in Jakarta that the Tanjung Priok KPLP also moved the Alugara Patrol Ship from Bojonegara, Banten to the KM Samudra Wani II position to perform a towing to Sunda Kelapa Harbor.

"In addition to coordinating with the agents, we are also coordinating with the Head of the Jakarta SAR Office and the Head of the Banten SAR Office to make movements using the State Ship (KN) SAR Tetuka to speed up the evacuation of KM Samudra Wani II", he said.

He stated that the location of the incident was 110 NM from Bandar Bakau Jaya Port, which took five to six hours.

"The result of direct communication with the captain of KM Samudra Wani II is that the ship's current position is at coordinates 4° 32,700'S 107° 53,328' T", said Fazzli.

"We have deployed several SAR personnel, working to the maximum to search for the hope that the ship and all crew members can be evacuated soon", he said.
