Road Asphalt Corruption Case, Aceh Police Detain 5 Suspects Including Head Of Service

BANDA ACEH - Investigators from the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation at the Aceh Police have detained five suspects for alleged corruption in the work of paving roads in Simeulue Regency.

Director of the Aceh Police Special Criminal Investigation Grand Commissioner Sony Sonjaya said the five suspects were detained at the Aceh Police Headquarters Rutan in Banda Aceh.

"Previously, the five were named as suspects in alleged corruption in the work of paving roads in Simeulue Regency," said Grand Commissioner Sony, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 25.

In addition to detaining the suspects, said Sony Sanjaya, investigators also confiscated a number of evidences, including work documents, from planning, implementation to payment.

The five suspects who were detained had the initials IH as the Head of the Simeulue Regency PUPR Service, IS, the former Head of the Simeulue Regency Information Communications Service.

Then, YES as the Director of CV ABL, the initials of the company involved in the work, AS as the Proxy of the Directors of PT IMJ, the initials of the company also involved in the work, and MI who is also the Technical Implementation Officer (PPTK).

"The alleged corruption case occurred in the 2019 fiscal year. The asphalt project was budgeted by the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Simeulue Regency," said Sony Sanjaya.

In that year, the Simeulue PUPR Service had work in the form of asphalting Jalan Simpang Batu Ragi to Jalan Simpang Patriot with a contract value of more than Rp12.8 billion.

According to him, it is suspected that the road paving work did not meet the specifications, thus harming the state's finances. Regarding state losses, it is currently being calculated by the relevant institutions.

"The suspects are applied to Article 2 paragraph (1) and or Article 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code," said Grand Commissioner Sony.
