Grandmother In Banyuwangi Tricked By Thieves Confess Service Officer, Gold Jewelery Stolen

BANYUWANGI - Lilik Hertantini (62) a resident of Tamanbaru Village, Banyuwangi, East Java, was tricked by a gang of thieves. The perpetrator claimed to be an officer from one of the local district offices.

There were 3 thefts. They initially distracted Grandma Lilik and then grabbed the jewellery.

After the incident, Lilik's grandmother reported to the police. He hopes that the perpetrators of the theft will be caught soon.

When confirmed, Banyuwangi Police Chief AKP Kusmin confirmed the theft report on Tuesday, November 23.

"After receiving the report, we immediately went to the TKP (the crime scene)," said Kusmin, Thursday, November 25.

According to the victim's statement, the incident occurred in the morning. At that time, the victim's house was visited by three unknown people wearing blue jackets claiming to be officers from one of the services.

"At that time the victim was invited by two perpetrators to check the garden in front of the victim's house. But it turned out to be just a diversion. One other person apparently slipped into the house and took a number of jewelry that was in the closet," he said.

As a result of the theft, said Kusmin, the victim claimed to have lost 8 items of jewelry. Among them one gold bracelet and seven gold rings.

"We are still investigating this case. In this case, I urge the public to be more careful. Do not carelessly accept unknown guests into the house. If necessary, report to the head of the local RT first before receiving guests or unknown people," he said.
