JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Dudung Abdurachman said the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) were brothers and did not need to be fought.

The KKB spokesman, who calls himself the National Liberation Army for West Papua-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM) Sebby Sambom, rejected the statement.

He said his group had no history of family ties to Indonesians and Asians.

Because, according to him, Papuans only have a family history of the Melanesian race in the Pacific region.

"Brother in what relationship?" Sebby asked Era.id via text message on Wednesday, November 24.

He ensured that the Army Chief of Staff's statement would never materialize.

"And the dream of the Army Chief of Staff attracts wind and empty dreams," he asserted.

Previously, the Army Chief of Staff, General TNI Dudung Abdurachman, reminded the soldiers serving in Papua to love the local community and never hurt people's hearts.

This was said by Dudung when giving a briefing to TNI AD soldiers, Persit KCK, and Task Force Battalion Battalion PR 328/Dirgahayu at the Raider Battalion Headquarters 754/ENK20/3 Kostrad, in Timika, Papua, Tuesday (23/11/2021).

Abdurachman stated that TNI soldiers must be able to embrace armed groups so that they can return to the fold of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The task force does not have to fight the KKB, but they need to be embraced with a pure and sincere heart because they are our brothers. Success in their duties is not measured by getting weapons but how our brothers can realize and return to the lap of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

The benchmark for the success of a TNI soldier's duties, he said, is if they are loved, cared, proud, and admired by the Papuan people.

"When you finish the Task Force and the people cry for you because they still want you to work and live with them, it means that you have won the hearts and sympathy of the Papuan people," he said.

After giving the briefing, he continued his working visit to Jayapura.
