Former KPK Investigator Robin Proposes Justice Collaborator, Can Disassemble Other Parties Involved

JAKARTA - The request for justice collaborator (JC) former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Stepanus Robin Pattuju is appreciated. It is hoped that this submission can expose other parties involved in this case.

"Surely this will further facilitate the law enforcement process against alleged conspiracy, alleged malicious conspiracy in the context of dealing with cases handled by the KPK," said the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman in his statement, Wednesday, November 24.

He said a number of statements by Stepanus at the trial regarding the alleged bribery in handling the case of buying and selling positions in the Tanjungbalai City Government had helped the investigation. So, Boyamin hoped that JC's proposal would be granted.

"This is the beginning of a case related to the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial who is suspected of trading in positions. Well, from there it was later revealed that there were allegations that M Syahrial asked for protection from elements in the KPK," he said.

"Now, with Robin's confession, it means it has been very helpful and later I hope that the material he submitted meets the requirements, one of which is to reveal that the other is bigger or other parties are suspected of being involved," added Boyamin.

Not only that, he hopes that the KPK can immediately investigate all of Stepanus' statements. Including, regarding the communication between the Deputy Chair of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar and M Syahrial.

"I hope this can be investigated by the KPK and then we will wait for the next processes for the KPK. Whether to follow up or not," said Boyamin.

"We are waiting for the judge whether to grant it or not later. Hopefully, if it is revealed that other parties and higher ones can be processed in the following stages, so that JC Robin's application is approved by the judge, and so that later he will get a light sentence," he added. Previously, Stepanus, who became a case broker for accepting bribes from a number of litigants at the KPK, including former Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, Azis Syamsuddin, applied to become a JC. This submission was made in a trial that was held on Monday, November 22 at the Jakarta Corruption Court.

In the documents submitted to the court, Stepanus alluded to a number of things, including revealing the role of KPK Deputy Chair Lili Pintauli Siregar in the bribery case of buying and selling positions that ensnared former Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial.

At the trial, Stepanus also openly revealed the communication between Lili and M Syahrial.

"At the beginning we only monitored whether this was really a case at the KPK and all of them were looking for Mr. Maskur's information. Then after a week of communication, I was contacted again by Syahrial by telephone, he said 'Bang, have you received any information yet? with Mrs. Lili," said Stepanus when revealing the contents of the communication.

Stepanus was a witness for lawyer Maskur Husain who was accused together with him of receiving Rp11.5 billion of money from handling five cases at the KPK.

"It was Mrs. Lili who said 'Rial, how is your file on my desk?' Then Syahrial answered, 'What about it, ma'am? Please help me,'" he said.

Stepanus admitted that he often communicates with Syahrial through the Signal application. "Then Mrs. Lili said, 'Yes, if you want to be helped, you will go to Medan and meet a lawyer named Arief Aceh.' For that, Syahrial said to me, 'I have confirmed this correctly'. Then I asked who did you mean by Mrs. Lili?', Syahrial answered, 'Mrs. Lili, Deputy Chair of the KPK', "he explained.
