JAKARTA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi explained the plan to unite public and private schools into a big family. So each school will help other schools that are in need.

"When we become a big family, there must be a smile and togetherness, so if there is a shortage, we can complete it together," said Mayor Eri Cahyadi in Surabaya, Wednesday, November 24, quoted from Antara.

In that way, in the city of Surabaya, there is no one who cannot go to school. There are no more schools that lack students, no more schools that cannot build their facilities and infrastructure, and there is no more teacher competition between the public and private sectors.

"Well, whose job is that? Yes, it's my job and the Surabaya City Government. So I hope to become a unit," he said.

He then explained the various stages to unite public and private schools in Surabaya. One of them must be an agreement at the beginning regarding the number of teachers. He gave an example if there is a teacher in school A who lacks teaching hours, while in school B he has excess teaching.

"So what are you going to do with this? Later, let the schools do the math themselves, later moving to school B, for example. This must be realized and I'm sure with the private MKKS (school principal work consultation), it's sure to be realized," he said.

For this reason, Eri also emphasizes that teachers must improve their personal abilities with various literacy skills.

In this way, it is hoped that the students will also have the desire and ability to read various literacies.

In addition, he continued, if there are private schools that need infrastructure, the public schools will give in first if they are already good, so they have to be replaced.

In fact, he also hopes that public schools will realize that private schools are partners and not rivals.

"If that's the case, then my children in Surabaya who want to go to the country are happy and want to enter the private sector, so happy, because between elementary and junior high school the 9 years is my responsibility," he said.

Therefore, he also emphasized that if there are still elementary and junior high school children who say that their schooling is bad and uncomfortable, then that is the responsibility of the Surabaya City Government.

Even so, he said that there must be a mutual agreement between public and private schools, especially if new schools emerge. Approximately in what year should be built and which schools should be built in the next budget.

Because, he said, it is impossible to cover everything in one budget year. He gave an example of schools that will be built until 2018, and schools that have just been built from 2018 onwards, will be built the following year.

"So, we must have that timeline. If everything is open like this, I'm sure my friends can understand. That's why I explained earlier, if public and private teachers gather together and there is cheerful and crisp laughter, then it means that there is togetherness I believe that the public and private MKKS can unite," he said.
