KUPANG - NTT Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif emphasized that if there are members of the National Police, especially in the jurisdiction of the NTT Police, who do not want to follow the rules of the Police, it is better not to become a police officer.

"If you can't follow the police rules when you become a police officer, you don't have to be a police officer," he said in Kupang, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, November 23.

This was conveyed in connection with a lawsuit to the Administrative Court from a former police officer who was dishonorably discharged due to his immoral behavior to a woman in NTT.

The Kapolda explained that in the National Police, members can be fired not only for criminal involvement, but also for being involved in serious violations of the code of ethics and discipline and deemed unfit to be maintained as members of the Police, PTDH can do it or be fired to maintain the glorification of the Polri profession.

He said that everyone consciously chose to serve and choose a profession as a police officer, not by coercion, let alone that coercion came from the Police.

"The National Police has never forced the public to become members of the National Police. We all consciously want to serve and choose the profession as a police officer in our lives to fully serve and protect the community," he added. The police are becoming a better institution," he said.

Police added that the one-star commander will not protect every member who has harmed and tarnished the good name of the institution and even hurt the hearts of the public.

"Not because only a few actions by members that harm and hurt people's hearts are allowed to even be protected so that they tarnish and damage the image of the Police in society," said the two-star commander.

He emphasized that there are still many good and sincere members of the National Police who serve the community, which must be defended and fought for properly.
