Dozens Of Massage Therapists In South Tangerang Arrested By Satpol PP

SOUTH TANGERANG – Operating during the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), 16 therapists at a massage parlor in South Tangerang (Tangsel) were secured by Satpol PP officers. The therapists in the data are to be submitted to the Social Service (Dinsos) Tangerang City.

The Secretary of the South Tangerang Satpol PP, Oki Rudianto, explained that the handover of the 16 therapists was done because they were desperate to operate in a massage parlor in North Serpong, South Tangerang, on Friday, November 20.

"From the results of the operation, as many as 16 people (therapists), on Sunday, have been handed over to the South Tangerang City Social Service according to applicable regulations," said Oki through a statement received, Sunday, November 21.

The arrests of the 16 therapists began with reports from the public who were uneasy about the existence of massage parlors operating during the pandemic. Because the activity is feared to become a new cluster of COVID-19. Whereas massage parlors which are classified as entertainment places are still not allowed to operate during the PPKM period.

Based on the report, the South Tangerang City Satpol PP then conducted an inspection of the massage parlor in North Serpong. During the inspection, his party found a number of violations of existing regional regulations.

"Based on the report from the Tourism Office, we and our staff took action in accordance with the applicable regulations. As a result, we managed to bring as many as a dozen therapists to the command headquarters for us to conduct inspections and collect data," explained Oki.

His party, continued Oki, will also call the massage parlor for inspection.

"Furthermore, the Satpol PP will call the relevant parties for further steps and coordination with the Social Service and the Tourism Office," he continued.
