Gus Ipul Says 27 PWNU Supports Rois Aam's Desire To Speed Up Congress

JAKARTA - PBNU Chairman Saifullah Yusuf said as many as 27 Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Regional Executives throughout Indonesia supported Rois Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Ahyar's wish to speed up the implementation of the 34th NU Congress.

"There are 27 regional administrators, 25 are PWNU Tanfidziyah Chairpersons and 2 PWNU Rois Syuriah PWNU met last night and supported Rois Aam's wish for an accelerated congress," said Gus Ipul, Saifullah Yusuf's nickname, in a written statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 21.

Previously, Rois Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Ahyar ordered PBNU to speed up the congress because conditions in January 2022 will not necessarily be better than December 2021.

According to Gus Ipul, as the highest leader, Rois Aam's wish is an order that must be carried out by PBNU.

"The current conditions at PBNU are also not conducive, there are political and administrative problems that interfere with organizational consolidation. For example, many dead decrees suddenly live on their own without Rois Aam's signature. This is a serious problem," said Gus Ipul.

A total of 27 PWNUs supported the acceleration of the congress, including East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Aceh, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and West Kalimantan.

In addition, Bali, NTT, NTB, South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Gorontalo, North Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku and West Papua. Support for the acceleration of the congress was carried out after 27 PWNU met in Jakarta on Saturday, November 20 evening.

Several points were made in the meeting, including supporting an accelerated congress on 17-19 December 2021 and encouraging the regeneration of PBNU's leadership to occur properly and elegantly at the 34th congress in Lampung.

According to the results of the National Conference and the NU Konbes, the 34th NU Congress is scheduled for 23-25 December 2021. However, due to the government's policy to implement PPKM level 3 on 24 December 2021 to 2 January 2022, the congress has been rescheduled.

Chairman of the Committee for the 34th NU Congress, KH Imam Azis, said that PBNU had not yet decided whether the congress was moved forward or postponed from the previous schedule.
