10 Residents Injured By Landslide In Cianjur

CIANJUR - Ten residents were injured by a landslide in Sukagalih Village, Takokak District, Cianjur Regency, West Java.

"There is information that three people suffered serious injuries and were referred to a hospital in Sukabumi, while seven others suffered moderate and light injuries due to being hit by landslides in the form of rocks and soil," said Secretary of the Cianjur Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency, Rudi Labis, quoted by Antara, Sunday, 21 November.

According to him, residents who were hit by the landslide had received medical assistance from health workers.

Sukagalih Village Head Dadan Sujana said three residents who were seriously injured were still undergoing treatment at the R Syamsuddin SH Hospital or Bunut Hospital in Sukabumi, while the other seven people had received medical assistance from the local health center staff.

"Seven people only suffered minor injuries, while the other three people were seriously injured because when the cliff again collapsed they were right in front of the cliff so they didn't have time to escape," he said.

According to Dadan, they were hit by a landslide while working to repair irrigation canals.

"We didn't expect that the cliffs would again slide, so this morning the residents were deliberately working to clean up landslide material that blocked irrigation canals," he said.
