PKS Reminds Densus 88 Not To Be Arbitrary, It Is Mandatory To Fulfill The Rights Of The Third Missionary Who Is Suspected Of Being A Terrorist

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) highlighted the steps taken by the Anti-terror Special Detachment (Densus) 88 which arrested three missionaries on suspicion of criminal acts of terrorism.

The three are Ustaz Farid Okbah (FAO), Ustaz Zain An Najah (ZA), and Ustaz Anung Al-Hamat (AA).

Member of Commission III of the DPR RI Nasir Djamil, reminded that Densus 88 can fulfill the rights of the three missionaries during the handling and examination period.

"I have an obligation to remind Densus 88 that the protection and fulfillment of human rights must be provided while they are detained. In other words, their rights must be fulfilled," Nasir told reporters, Wednesday, November 17.

According to him, Densus 88 must prioritize transparency and not be arbitrary in the arrest of the missionary. Because he judged that his lectures were not blasphemous or takfiri-oriented.

The legislator for the Aceh electoral district emphasized that Article 28 paragraph (1) of Law 5/2018 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism does give investigators the right to arrest anyone suspected of committing a criminal act of terrorism.

"But in such a case, Densus 88 must provide a transparent explanation for the arrest," explained Nasir Djamil.

As is known, the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Team at the National Police Headquarters conducted an operation to arrest three suspected terrorists. One of them is a member of the fatwa commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

The three members of the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) group, namely AA (44) working as a lecturer, were arrested Tuesday morning, at 05.49 WIB at his residence, Jalan Raya Legok, Blok Mosque, Jatimelati, Pondok Melati, Bekasi City.

Then the suspected terrorist with the initials AZ (50), who works as a lecturer, was arrested at 04.39 WIB in the Merbabu Raya area, Pondok Melati Housing, Bekasi. Another one with the initials FAO, was arrested in Jati Melati Village, Bekasi City.
