3 Houses In Banyuwangi Tile Collapsed

BANYUWANGI - Three houses in Genteng District, Banyuwangi, East Java, collapsed. Two houses in Jalen Hamlet, Setail Village, Genteng collapsed because a tree fell on them. Meanwhile, one house collapsed because the construction of the building was rotten in Cangaan Hamlet.

"What was damaged was the kitchen part because it was hit by a tree. The loss was estimated at Rp. 13 million. In Cangaan Hamlet, the kitchen part lost Rp. 10 million," said Head of Genteng Sub-district, Firman Sanyoto, Tuesday, November 16.

This afternoon, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the TNI-Polri and related parties have evacuated the ruins of the building.

"We have also provided assistance to homeowners. In the form of basic necessities, first aid kits and some blankets," he said.

Firman appealed to residents to increase their vigilance, given the extreme weather conditions.

"Vigilance needs to be increased, if necessary to check the condition of the house, cut down trees when it is felt that the tree is already dense and prone to collapse so that disaster risk can be minimized," he said.

Meanwhile, the owner of the house in Cangaan Hamlet, Usmirah, said that his house collapsed around 13.00 WIB. The reason is that the construction of the building is weathered so that it collapses when it rains.

"It was the kitchen that was damaged. The rubble at that time fell on my sister, who was in the kitchen at the time. However, the injuries were not serious, only abrasions and they have been treated," he said.
