UI Appreciates The Issuance Of Permendikbudristek Number 30/2021 Concerning PPKS

JAKARTA - The University of Indonesia (UI) appreciates the issuance of Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology (Permendikbudristek) Number 30 of 2021 which provides legal certainty in the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education ('Permen PPKS').

As reported by Antara, Sunday, November 14, UI Rector's Special Staff for Regulation, Ima Mayasari, in her statement, said that currently UI has taken regulatory reform steps, so that the Central Government's policies, including the PPKS Permen, are an agenda that needs to be harmonized and communicated with stakeholders in UI, including the existing Code of Conduct and Code of Conduct.

She said that UI always upholds good university governance, as well as in every policy made by the government of course it has passed the stages of stakeholder engagement, regulatory impact assessment (RIA), post evaluation, and synchronization and harmonization.

Thus, UI through the UI Statutes, 9 UI Values, Code of Conduct for Campus Life, code of ethics and code of conduct, and other internal regulations supports the prevention and handling of sexual violence in the campus environment. Handling sexual violence is one of UI's priority aspects and has been allocated in the 2022 RKT and RKA.

Meanwhile, UI's Director of Student Affairs, Badrul Munir, said that the PPKS Ministerial Regulation provides guidance in preparing the stages of handling sexual violence.

UI is conducting discussion steps to review the implementation of this PPKS Regulation, including following the socialization that is still being carried out by the Ministry of Education and Culture and communication with related parties within UI.

In addition to the legal aspect which is the main substance in cases of sexual violence, the aspect of handling and protecting victims is very important to be addressed to ensure physical and mental health, as well as to guarantee the continuity of lectures for students so that they are not disturbed, through comprehensive handling.

"Another very important aspect in the implementation of this PPKS Regulation is the prevention of sexual violence through education and socialization about PPKS as well as strengthening character/morals in learning and student activities," said Badrul.
