South Aceh Flood, 11,626 People Affected

BANDA ACEH - A number of districts/cities in Aceh have been hit by floods since the last few days, and South Aceh has become the worst-hit area with the affected victims reaching 11,626 people according to the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA).

BPBA Chief Executive Ilyas said districts/cities in Tanah Rencong that are still hit by floods include the cities of Lhokseumawe, Subulussalam, South Aceh, Simeulue, Aceh Singkil, Central Aceh and Southeast Aceh.

“The most affected flood areas are in South Aceh, namely the Districts of Central Kluet, Sawang, East Trumon, Happy City, South Kluet, North Kluet, Central Trumon and Bakongan. with 11,626 affected victims in 3,347 families (KK) with a predicted loss of Rp 16 billion," said Ilyas, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 10.

"This natural disaster submerged 161 housing units and caused damage to three educational facilities, one government facility, one bridge and 57 hectares of rice fields with a total loss of Rp17 billion," he said.

Ilyas appealed to district/city BPBDs to be alert and prepared in case of floods, flash floods and landslides in areas with high rainfall intensity.
