Makassar Mayor Danny Pomanto Surprised Many Food Packages Expired

MAKASSAR - Makassar Mayor Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto) admitted that he was surprised by how many packages of basic necessities in the warehouse had expired or had expired before being distributed to the public.

"What is this, why are so many damaged, expired and eaten by rats. Even though at the end of 2020 and this year alone there were many floods and other disasters, why were they not distributed," said Danny Pomanto in Makassar, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 10.

He said the many reports and complaints about the performance of the old Makassar Social Service officials were the reason to replace them.

Even after the replacement, the new official found that there were so many packages of basic necessities piled up in the warehouse and not being distributed.

"After checking, it turned out that they were all expired and when they were bought, it turned out that the expiration date was near. You already know, why were you bought it," continued Danny Pomanto.

The Mayor of Makassar assessed that the findings of basic food assistance that were left to rot showed that the management of the social service needed to be improved.

"That's a sign that the management of social services is so bad, now it's starting to get better," he said.

Meanwhile, Plt. Head of the Makassar Social Service, Muhyiddin, confirmed the findings. He said there were thousands of foods in the form of instant noodles that had expired and were eaten by rats.

"We don't give this to the community even though we have stock of goods. But there should have been many events in 2020, why not share it. The problem is that the goods already exist, but we can't share them because they have expired," he said.
