KPK Focuses On Investigating The Role Of Azis Syamsuddin In The Central Lampung DAK Corruption Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently focusing on investigating the involvement of former Deputy Speaker of the DPR Azis Syamsuddin in the alleged corruption of the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in Central Lampung.

Moreover, this case led Azis to give bribes to a former KPK investigator, Stepanus Robin Pattuju.

"Indeed, the initial bribery involving AZ (Azis Syamsuddin) was related to (DAK, red) Central Lampung," said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto in a press conference broadcast on the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Wednesday, November 10.

Karyoto said that his party is currently continuing to develop allegations against other parties in the case. Moreover, a number of court facts related to the handling of the corruption case in Central Lampung have exposed the role of Azis and his right-hand man, Aliza Gunado.

"If we meet the completeness, we will also lift it," said Karyoto.

However, he emphasized that this process would be adjusted to the strategy of the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU). Moreover, in the trial of Stepanus Robin, new evidence was found which further strengthened Azis' game in the DAK process in Central Lampung.

"We will see how the prosecutor's strategy is to reveal more deeply," he said.

As previously reported, Azis Syamsuddin was named a suspect in connection with the alleged bribery in handling a corruption case currently being handled by the KPK in Central Lampung. This award was given to Stepanus Robin Pattuju who had been dismissed from his job as an investigator.

In this case, the KPK suspects that Azis and former General Chairperson of the PP Youth Forces of the Golkar Party (AMPG) Aliza Gunado gave bribes to KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju (SRP) worth Rp. 3.1 billion from an agreement of Rp. 4 billion.

The money was given to Stepanus so that the former investigators would secure their position in the alleged corruption of the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in Central Lampung.
