The Lost JKT-BDG Fast Train Project Iron Reaches IDR 1 Billion, Police Are Still Chasing 7 Other Thieves

JAKARTA - Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Makassar Sector Police, Iptu Mochamad Zen is still pursuing seven perpetrators of iron theft of the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train (KCJB) project. Meanwhile, five perpetrators of iron theft with the initials SA, SU, AR, MLR, and DY are already languishing in the Makassar Police Sector detention cell.

"In total there are 12 perpetrators, seven people are still chasing, five people have been arrested," said Kanit, Tuesday, November 9.

The total loss for the lost iron stolen by the five perpetrators reached Rp. 1 billion. The iron belonging to the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) project has been missing from July to October 2021

"Loss lost from the inventory from July to October 2021 recorded on the material list is estimated to be worth more than IDR 1 billion," he said.

Kanit said the five suspects had different roles. Suspects SA, SU, and MLR acted as transporters of stolen project iron.

Meanwhile, DY is in charge of preparing a black pickup truck to transport stolen iron. Meanwhile, AR destroys the fence in the project area so that other actors can enter and steal the project's iron.

The first arrests were made of suspects SA and SU around the Cipinang Melayu quarry.

"Then we developed and pursued other perpetrators in the Ciomas area, Bogor Regency. AR perpetrators were arrested a few hours after SA and SU were caught," he said.

Meanwhile, MLR and DY were arrested on Jalan Pangkalan Jati, Cipinang Melayu Village, East Jakarta.

"Furthermore, the five perpetrators will be investigated further at the Makassar Police Criminal Investigation Unit, East Jakarta Police," he said.

The five suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with a weighted threat of a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
