East Java Police Call Driver Vanessa Angel Admits He Was Playing Mobile Phones Before The Accident

JAKARTA - East Java Regional Police investigators said that Vanessa Angel's car driver, Tubagus Joddy, admitted that he had played with his cellphone before the accident occurred on the Jombang Toll Road.

"Yes, he said that (playing on a cellphone) during interrogation," said Kasi Laka, Subdi Gakkum, Ditlantas, East Java Police Commissioner Hendry Ferdinan Kennedy, quoting Antara, Saturday, November 6.

Based on this information, his party confiscated cellphones and electronic evidence which are currently being submitted for forensic examination.

In addition, from the interim examination, Joddy also admitted that he was driving a car at a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour.

"The driver admitted 120 kilometers per hour," he said.

Kennedy said that his party was investigating the suspicion that Vanessa Angel's driver was sleepy before the accident.

Regarding the possibility of Tubagus Joddy being a suspect, he stated that this could happen. However, the determination depends on the results of the investigation.

"Yes, all possibilities are possible. Only if he is named a suspect or not, we will see the progress of the investigation results. We cannot say now because it is still a process. In addition, the condition of the driver cannot be questioned further," he said.

Previously, the white car with the police number B-1284-BJU carrying Vanessa Angel and her husband, Febri Ardiansyah (Auntie), had a single accident on the Jombang-Mojokerto Toll Road KM 672 300/A, Thursday 4 November at around 12:36 WIB.

It is suspected that the accident occurred due to driver fatigue. The car, which was suspected to be speeding, then swerved to the left and hit a concrete road divider, sending the car flying as far as 30 meters.

From this incident, two people were declared dead, namely Vanessa Angel and her husband, Bibi. Three other victims survived and were injured, namely the driver, the household assistant, and GS (Vanessa Angel's son).
