So Suspects In Death Of UNS Menwa Education And Training Students, These Two People Were Forcibly Picked Up

SOLO - Surakarta City Police Investigators have named two suspects in the case of the death of student Gilang Endy Saputra (21), while attending the UNS student regiment basic training education (Diklatsar Menwa).

The two suspects had the initials NFM (20), a resident of Pati Regency and FPJ (20), a resident of Wonogiri Regency. The two students became suspects based on three pieces of evidence, namely witness statements, letters, and expert statements.

"Investigators have held a case this Friday, at around 10:00 WIB to determine the suspect related to the activities that caused Gilang Endy Saputra to die," said Head of Surakarta Police Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, at a press conference at the Surakarta Police Headquarters, reported by Antara, Friday, November 5th.

The police chief said that the two suspects were involved in a criminal act jointly carrying out allegations of mistreatment of the victim which caused Gilang to die during the 2021 UNS Menwa Education and Training Activities.

"Or because his negligence caused another person to die, which happened on the UNS campus, on Saturday, October 23 starting at 06.00 WIB until Sunday, October 24, at 22.00 WIB," said the Police Chief.

This is referred to, said the Police Chief, in Article 351 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code Junto Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code or Article 359 Junto Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. It carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.

"Each of these suspects is suspected of having committed violence either by using tools or with his bare hands to the victim," said the Police Chief.

The two students whose status was as the UNS Menwa Education and Training Committee were immediately forcibly picked up in Jebres Solo, by investigators, to carry out an examination of their status as suspects.

The Gilang victim was declared dead by the doctor on duty, at the Dr. Moewardi Surakarta, on Sunday, October 24 at around 22:05 WIB, after attending the UNS Menwa Menwa Training and Education.

The Surakarta Police investigator team then carried out a case title by increasing the investigation to the investigation of the case, on Monday, October 25

Meanwhile, UNS Chancellor Professor Jamal Wiwoho said he accepted the steps taken by the Surakarta Police which had named two suspects. UNS submits the applicable legal process and will continue to provide legal assistance in this case.

According to Jamal, the determination of the suspect was a disaster for UNS. UNS remains guided by the principle of presumption of innocence and will provide assistance to students (suspects).
