TransJakarta Bus Smog In Senen Area, Azas Tigor Says DKI Governor Must Immediately Conduct Evaluation

JAKARTA - Transportation Policy Analyst Azas Tigor Nainggolan highlighted the existence of a TransJakarta bus containing damaged passengers that emitted smoke in the Senen area, Central Jakarta.

According to Azas, for the past two weeks, TransJakarta accidents have happened almost every day. He urged DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to immediately evaluate the management and directors of TransJakarta.

"There should have been a strict evaluation. This cannot be ignored, this is dangerous. People will be afraid to use TransJakarta", he said when contacted by VOI, Thursday, November 4.

Azas was surprised that the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, had not taken any action against the management of TransJakarta.

"How come the Governor of Jakarta is silent, there is no response? It belongs to the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta. DKI BUMD (Regionally-Owned Enterprises), TransJakarta", he said.

Azas said the first step that the DKI Provincial Government had to take was to evaluate and conduct an inspection.

"This damage must be investigated, what causes it. For what kind of repair in the future, at least in my opinion all TransJakarta management should evaluate. This is why the Governor of DKI Jakarta should act. All TransJakarta directors must be replaced", he said.

The principal said that people should not lose their trust in the public using the TransJakarta mode of transportation.

"You have to, Anies has to replace all TransJakarta directors. This is already dangerous, if you don't let it happen, people won't trust TransJakarta anymore. Afraid (later) people will use TransJakarta", he said.

To anticipate that the incident would not continue to repeat itself and provide comfort to the community, said Azas, this supervision should have been carried out by the Governor of DKI Jakarta through the Department of Transportation.

"But the Department of Transportation has not taken any action, it's the same. The Governor of DKI must be responsible for this. (because) Supervision and responsibility are under the Governor of DKI", he said.

Previously, a puff of smoke from the top of the TransJakarta bus bound for Senen - Pulogadung made TransJakarta passengers save themselves and be evacuated to other buses.

Head of Public Relations of PT TransJakarta Iwan Samariansyah said a puff of smoke came from the broken air conditioner (AC) vanbelt.
