It was previously reported that a boy with the initials N (11) who was dragged by the East Flood Canal (KBT), Jatinegara, East Jakarta was successfully evacuated by the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) officer of Cipinang Muara Village.
According to Joko, one of the PPSU officers, initially N was seen playing in the water in the KBT stream with three of his friends. Based on Joko's narrative, the four of them played push-and-shoulder at KBT.
"The boys were told to go up, but they didn't want to. In the end, they kept joking there," said Joko at the location, Wednesday, November 3.
Then, the four children fell. However, only N was swept away by the swift current of the KBT flow. Meanwhile, three of his friends managed to get to the mainland.
Joko and another PPSU officer, Nain, heard screams from one of N. Joko's friends and Nain then helped N.
"Someone shouted, 'bang, please help my friend'," said Joko imitating his friend N's scream.
"I ran, I saw his hair. I tried to jump, it didn't hit. He drowned," said Joko.
Unintentionally, Joko's feet touched N's body. That's what made Joko able to lift N's body.
"I immediately picked it up, I was carrying it. Because it wasn't strong and the water was so deep, I asked Bang Nain for help," he said.
Then, Joko's other colleague named Samuji participated in the first aid process for the victim with the initials N who lives in RT 11/04 Pondok Bambu Village, East Jakarta.
Samuji gave rescue breaths and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by pumping N's chest, who at that time was already pale and weak from drowning for a long time.
His efforts were successful, after N's chest was pumped, the water that had previously been swallowed a lot when drowning came out of his mouth. The child was saved.
"Alhamdulillah, he was able to choke (out of water), at first the victim's body was all blue, the blue lips were a little cold, but it was still God's will, he was still given life, he could wake up," he said.
After that, continued Samuji, by riding in one of the KBT visitor cars, N's limp body was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) not far from the scene.
