Bekasi Residents Are Excited There Is Foam Waste In Official Rivers Like Clouds

BEKASI - Residents of Pelaukan Village, Karangsetia Village, Karanghapsa Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, West Java, were shocked by the emergence of foam waste that mounted to resemble a cloud like a country tour above the clouds of the Dieng Wonosobo Mountains or the Cliffs of the Kraton Bandung.

"The waste is in the form of foam like a country on a cloud, the difference is that this cloud smells because it comes from waste," said local resident Indra Lesmana (36) in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, November 2.

Indra admitted that the appearance of the waste had been going on since Tuesday morning at 05.30 WIB. At that time he was about to fish in a river known to the locals as the Official River. When he arrived at the location, Indra was surprised to see the condition of the river water filled with foam waste.

The foam waste was getting more and more until it was mountain and covered the entire river body, like a land above the clouds.

"So when I wanted to go fishing, I was surprised. What is this, then when I approached it, it turned out to be foam. There's a lot. From afar it looks like a cloud, it's good. When you get closer, it smells," he said.

Indra admitted that the official Kali stream did foam, but it didn't cover the entire river body, and even changed the color of the river water to darken and emitted an unpleasant odor.

"Usually there has been foam, but if there was a lot of foam it was only this morning. So I was surprised. Then the water was also black in color, like there were oil spots and it smelled. It was also itchy because I had time to go down when I lifted the hook," he said.

Another local resident, Sonjaya (41) admitted that the foam that polluted the Official River was suspected to contain oil. "We are also afraid to go inside, afraid of why," he said.

In addition to polluting the river, Sonjaya is also worried that the waste will also damage the rice fields because the polluted river is an irrigation system whose water flow is used to irrigate rice fields.

"The harvest is clearly affected. Apart from rice fields there are gardens as well. I ask the administrators (government), irrigation (service) to pay attention. It can get black like this and get contaminated with waste. know," he said.

Meanwhile, the Sub-district head of Karanghappi Karnadi confirmed that the Rasmi River was contaminated with foam, only that the amount of foam was not as much as what happened in the viral incident.

Karnadi confirmed that he would trace the origin of the foam. His party will also coordinate with relevant agencies to follow up on the pollution.

"It's usually foamy, but not that much. We'll check the location later to follow up on it," he said.
