JAKARTA - Guitarist and founder of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page, has just given a special surprise to rock music fans around the world.
Through his official YouTube channel, Page released an original home demo recording of the Led Zeppelin song titled "Ten Years Gone".
The song, which was originally released in 1975 on the album "Physical Graffiti", was shared by Page as a form of appreciation for the long history of the work.
The early recording of "Ten Years Gone" was taken directly from his personal studio in Plumpton Place, long before the song was polished in a professional recording studio.
"As a footnote to 'Physical Graffiti', I thought you might like to hear the original home demo, recorded in my studio at Plumpton Place, of a piece of music that would later appear as 'Ten Years Gone'," wrote Jimmy Page in the description of his upload.
Page told, this early version was the result of his personal experimentation in composing layers of guitar melodies. He then took this rough draft to Headley Grange to present it to the other band members. That's where the vocalist, Robert Plant, gave his magical touch.
"I presented this rough draft to the band at Headley Grange to make it real. Robert Plant came up with some lyrics for my music that were so incredible, and then the song 'Ten Years Gone' was born," Page recalled.
The upload was immediately flooded with comments from fans. Many praised Page's genius in composing guitar melodies even in a format that is still very simple.
The release of this demo adds to the long list of rare Led Zeppelin material shared by Page, after previously he also released the demo "The Seasons" which became the forerunner of "The Rain Song".
