JAKARTA - British songwriter Rachel Agatha Keen aka Raye, made a public apology after dozens of her fans were banned from entering the location of her concert in Paris, France, recently.
The incident was triggered by a technical error in the Ticketmaster system that caused dozens of legitimate ticket holders to be held outside the Accor Arena gates.
In his statement, Raye expressed deep disappointment and called the incident unacceptable. He emphasized that the ticket validation problem was completely out of his control as a performer.
"I was told that this was a system error at Ticketmaster, which means that 65 tickets were not fully validated when purchased. This is beyond my control and I feel sad and disappointed," Raye said, quoted by NME, Thursday, February 19.
Although Ticketmaster is reported to have given refunds and compensation vouchers to victims, Raye feels that it is not enough to treat the disappointment of fans who have come to the location.
As a form of accountability, the winner of the Brit Awards also promised to give free tickets to future concerts as well as signed vinyl records to affected fans.
"I would like to offer the 65 people who couldn't get into the show free tickets to any Raye show in the future of their choice, as well as a signed vinyl," the 28-year-old singer-songwriter said.
"I know this is nothing compared to this mess, but it's the only thing I can think of right now to calm down the disappointment. My deepest apologies to those of you who were affected," he added.
This tour is part of the promotion of Raye's second album, "This Music May Contain Hope", which is scheduled to be released on March 27.
The tour has been underway since January 22 in Lodz, Poland, and continues to various major cities in Europe, before heading to North America in late March.
