JAKARTA - Two well-known music entities in the European rock scene, Within Temptation and Smash into Pieces, have officially collaborated. They present a music video for their collaborative single titled Somebody Like You, which is emotional.

The video, directed by Pavel Trebukhin, features an intense blend of cinematic orchestration with a modern rock spirit that feels intense.

This song itself is a ballad that explores the theme of fragility, longing, and human need for connection. The arrangement was made special with the role of an orchestra of 22 personnel. Somebody Like You also swings smoothly between intimate moments and a stirring majestic impression.

Within Temptation vocalist Sharon den Adel expressed her enthusiasm for this collaboration. Like a long wait that came true, she managed to unite nostalgia and creativity.

"We've known each other for a long time and have toured together. This song is the perfect moment to finally come together. Adding an orchestra feels like a nostalgic journey, while also blending perfectly with modern rock sound," he said as quoted by Blabbermouth, January 15.

Smash Into Pieces also feels that this collaboration is a sincere expression of feelings. They hope that this song can be felt by fans not only with their ears, but also their hearts.

"Today, we get to share a song with a band that has inspired us, that has colored our sound. To the people who changed our lives forever, we dedicate 'Somebody Like You'."

This release also coincides with the 25th anniversary of Within Temptation's "Mother Earth" album (2000). The fantasy and nature-themed album was a sleeper hit, eventually reaching double platinum status in the Netherlands.

Later, Within Temptation also often touched on social issues in their works, such as the songs "Wireless" and "Bleed Out" which raised the war in Ukraine and the case of Mahsa Amini in Iran.
