JAKARTA - The world's electronic music festival, Tomorrowland, has finally officially confirmed their expansion into the Southeast Asian region.
After years of being a rumor among electronic music lovers, the Belgian music festival confirmed that Thailand will host the first edition of Tomorrowland in Asia at the end of 2026.
The presence of Tomorrowland in this area is predicted to change the map of music festivals in Southeast Asia, which has been dominated by Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) in Indonesia.
The selection of Thailand as the first location is not without reason, considering that the White Elephant country is actively positioning itself as a world-class entertainment and tourism center in Asia.
The implementation of this festival is also the result of close collaboration between Tomorrowland and the Government of Thailand through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
"Selected over several other Asian destinations, Thailand's appointment confirms its growing influence on the global stage of music, innovation, and experience-based tourism," said the organizer, quoted by Billboard, Thursday, January 8.
The organizers also added that a festival of this size is expected to produce significant impacts on the local and national economies.
According to them, Tomorrowland Thailand will not only introduce new audiences to the magic of Tomorrowland, but will also highlight Thailand in the eyes of the world as a center of large-scale cultural and entertainment experiences.
The Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT) also enthusiastically welcomed this cooperation as part of their long-term strategy. "Hosting Tomorrowland in Thailand marks an important milestone in our ambition to position the country as a leader in global tourism and creative experiences. We look forward to the presence of people from around the world to discover the beauty, culture, and hospitality of Thailand," said the TAT.
Tomorrowland Thailand is scheduled to take place from December 11 to 13. The chosen location is Wisdom Valley in Pattaya, Khao Mai Kaew, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The 237-hectare area is known for its beautiful natural beauty, which will be the backdrop for Tomorrowland's iconic stages.
Unlike its main festival in Belgium, which provides a large camping area for visitors, Tomorrowland Thailand will not provide camping facilities. Organizers direct visitors to use accommodation around the location, where hotel package sales will open on February 28, 2026, while general ticket sales will begin on March 8, 2026.
This expansion adds to Tomorrowland's long list of global portfolios, which have previously successfully penetrated the United States in 2013-2015, various editions in Brazil, as well as the Tomorrowland Winter festival in the French Alps.
The presence of Tomorrowland in Thailand is likely to attract a large amount of attention from fans in Indonesia and other neighboring countries, given the easier accessibility compared to having to fly to Europe.
