JAKARTA - Bruno Mars has again managed to dominate the music industry throughout 2025. His song, Die with A Smile, with Lady Gaga, has been named the top of the most songs played on Spotify in the past year with 1.7 billion streams. But in fact, the song was almost wasted.

The story was revealed by music producer James Fauntleroy, who was involved in the production of the song. He revealed that if there was no moment Lady Gaga played in the sequel to the Joker film, that extraordinary collaboration might never have existed.

"He is truly a genius because he was able to get it out of his unconscious memory because of the time of the film, which is also how Lady Gaga appeared in her mind as a collaborator," Fauntleroy quoted NME as saying, December 5.

The song had undergone a stagnant phase and felt there was no progress. Then when the Joker 2 slid late last year, Die with A Smile appeared again in the minds of Bruno Mars to be performed in a duet with Lady Gaga. The rest is history.

Fauntleroy, who worked on this song with Mars, Gaga and Dernst 'D'Mile' Emile II ( way to J. Blige, Janet Jackson), shared a magical moment that occurred in the workshop process.

"Bruno invited us to his studio inwastina. I knew Gaga could play the piano, but she really noted the chords learning the song on the spot," he explained.

A moment later they first performed the song in person, everyone agreed and thought, it would be something special.

Sure enough, this song was created by being elegant, until Lady Gaga felt she was a missing part of the Mayhem album. Who would have thought, this 2025 best-selling song is so close to the trash can, but it has turned into a treasure in the pop music scene today.
