Guitar 'Smoker' Warisam Ace Frehley Looking For A New Owner

JAKARTA - The death of guitarist and founder of KISS, Ace Frehley, on October 16 left deep sorrow as well as sensational news in the memorabilia rock universe.

The iconic guitar, dubbed the 'smoker' that always emits smoke on the stage that Frehley used during her last tour with Kiss, is now ready to change hands through auctions.

Launching Rolling Stone, the legendary guitar is auctioned on the official Gotta Have Rock And Roll website, with the auction opening from today, Wednesday, November 19, and will last until December 5.

The highest bidder will not only take home the custom Gibson Les Paul guitar which was modified specifically to put a smoke bomb in the neck pickup but also photos of Ace Frehley in action with that historic instrument.

Meanwhile, the auctioned guitar had a sunburst paint coating and was used intensively during Frehley's last appearance with Kiss between 1999 and 2001.

Although Frehley's first smoker debuted around 1975, it was this sunburst version that witnessed the final phase of her iconic guitarist career with Kiss.

For information, Ace Frehley passed away in Morristown, New Jersey, USA at the age of 74. The official statement released at the time revealed that Ace, often dubbed Spaceman, died peacefully and was surrounded by family after falling at home.

After an in-depth investigation, the results of the medical examination confirmed that the charismatic guitarist's death was purely an accident.

Exactly last weekend, the remaining Kiss personnel paid their emotional respects to Frehley in their first "no makeup" show since declaring retirement from the tour.

Before the show started, electric candles were distributed to the audience. When appearing on stage, Paul Stanley asked the audience to lift the candle and take a moment.

"We're talking about Ace," Stanley said, "We certainly have differences, but that's what the family means. Why don't we take a moment (and) think about it looking down on us."

"Let's give Ace a moment," Stanley concluded.
