Slayer Guitarist Kerry King Prefers Metallica Over Megadeth

JAKARTA - The debate over who is best among the "The Big Four" thrash metal Meta, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax never ends.

In an interview on the YouTube Broadcasting TV channel, Kerry King 'gitary Slayer' was faced with a series of sensitive questions about the band's competition.

"James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine?" asked the interviewer.

Without hesitation, King answered firmly, "James Hetfield. Sorry Dave, I know I've played in your band, but I'll choose James."

The next question is more challenging, and becomes the climax of the conversation: "Metallica or Megadeth?"

The 61-year-old guitarist also tried to answer honestly. He chose Metallica, with the balance that Hetfield was a better singer.

Metallica. I will be very honest, Metallica has a singer. Sorry, Dave," said King.

The statement immediately became the spotlight, given the track record of the relationship between King and Mustaine.

In 1984, Mustaine, who had been expelled from Metallica, briefly invited King to join Megadeth.

King did appear in several shows, but in the end he chose not to take the offer for his full commitment to Slayer, who at that time had just released his debut album Show No Mercy.

King's satire against Mustaine is also nothing new. Earlier this year, King had claimed that Mustaine was a figure who "couldn't stop himself from making statements that were detrimental to himself."

However, King clarified that he always welcomed Mustaine well.
